Overview & identity
This is a documented HDA codec-path profile, not an exact GPU or PCI audio-function match. The controller’s PCI ID, HDMI codec ID and graphics device are separate observations.
This is an explicit class, transport or driver-context profile. It is not an exact numeric product match.
A numeric match establishes a candidate family within the reviewed evidence. Marketing names, board variants, subsystem conditions and successful operation remain separate questions.
Driver & binding
The snapshot separates generic and vendor-specific HDMI codec modules. The checked generic snd_hda_codec_hdmi path reads ELD information to determine sink audio capabilities; a bound controller is not proof of an active monitor audio route.

Firmware
No host payload established here
No external firmware filename was established in the checked driver path. This does not describe firmware stored inside the device.
Read-only diagnostics
Run one displayed command at a time. Replace uppercase placeholders with the affected device, interface or module from your own output. Commands are never executed here. Read-only output can still contain private identifiers.
List playback PCM endpoints
aplay -lThis read-only alsa-utils listing normally needs no sudo and does not play audio. Compare card/device numbers with the card list; a PCM endpoint is separate from a PipeWire profile and mixer state.
Read display audio ELD
cat /proc/asound/card*/eld*This reads available ELD entries without sudo and without changing display modes. Compare monitor_present, eld_valid and monitor_name with the intended display; absent entries leave sink capability unobserved.
Limitations & related issues
An absent or invalid ELD can concern the display connection rather than a missing PCI driver. The generic module hint does not cover every newer vendor-specific split or prove the correct desktop profile.
These guides are linked for relevant observations, not as known defects of every device in this family.
